COMPREHENSIVE FERTILITY EVALUATION
The most important factor in achieving
pregnancy through fertility treatments is to start
with a thorough evaluation.
The following tests are highly useful in the initial
evaluation of any couple’s fertility care.
Baseline hormonal blood tests
The evaluation of FSH, estradiol, LH, and prolactin
during the first few days of the menstrual cycle
is an important parameter of the quality of the egg
cells.
Evaluation of the interior of
the uterus and fallopian tubes
A recent hysterosalpingogram (HSG) and sonohysterosalpingogram
(SHG) allows Dr. Brandeis to determine if adhesions
(scar tissue), fibroids, polyps, or ovarian cysts
are present.
Semen analysis with strict (Kruger) criteria
A recent sperm analysis is helpful to determine whether the morphology (shape
of the sperm) is adequate to achieve pregnancy.
If these tests do not indicate the cause of infertility further evaluation may
include:
• Pelvic MRI
• Laparoscopy
• Sperm Antibody Testing
